Streams In The Desert

Streams in the Desert is a project of Global Economic Outreach Mongolia, an NGO outreach of YWAM.

Missions Statement
Streams in the Desert is an outreach project to Alcoholic Men and Female Prostitutes in Mongolia.

  • Ministering to those in bondage to alcohol in Mongolia
  • Ministering to those in slavery to prostitution
  • Challenging the church to love and reach the outcasts of society
  • Restoring lives, families, and society by bringing hope to the hopeless in Mongolia

The Mongolian government states that 52 percent of the adult population is classified as an alcohol abuser. Alcoholism in Mongolia is the major cause of social crime, domestic violence, child abuse, and poverty.

While there are no reliable statistics on prostitution and trafficking in Mongolia, everyone agrees that it is increasing at an alarming rate. From our first-hand experience there are younger and younger girls on the streets.

The goals of our project are two-fold. First, it is our desire to reach alcoholics with the good news that Jesus can set them free. We desire to see men and women who have been ravaged by alcoholism restored to the life and plans God has for them. Secondly, we want to reach women and young girls and see them get off of the streets, out of prostitution and trafficking, and find a new life through Christ.

Reaching out through:

  • Running alcohol recovery groups
  • Providing coffee, tea and friendship to Ladies of the Night
  • Providing a shelter for former Ladies of the Night
  • Providing job training

Our project partners with JCS International, a consortium of 15 Christian agencies working together to serve the nation of Mongolia by helping to meet needs of society in terms of the whole person – physical, spiritual, and intellectual.
